About Our Guest. The Rev. Dr. Frances Taylor Gench has served since 1999 as the Herbert Worth and Annie H. Jackson Professor of Biblical Interpretation at Union Presbyterian Seminary, Richmond, VA. A graduate of Union Theological Seminary in Virginia (now Union Presbyterian Seminary: M.Div., Ph.D.), Frances is the author most recently of Encountering God in Tyrannical Texts: Reflections on Paul, Women, and the Authority of Scripture. She resides in DC and is a Parish Associate at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, where her husband, the Rev. Dr. Roger J. Gench, is pastor.
