Bethesda Presbyterian Church

Personal — Passionate — Progressive

... Palm/Passion Sunday, we encounter a new type of Messiah entering Jerusalem for Passover week. Historians tell us that Pilate and his war horses come racing in for Passover from the west -- crowd control, you know. Scriptures tell us that Jesus and his raggedy band come strolling in with donkey and coal from the east. It's a mismatch made in heaven -- featuring the kind of Messiah we need. Question is: Is this the kind of Messiah we want?

Join us as well for Christian Ed before (9:45: the Spirituality of Nonviolence for adults, Gospel narratives for teens & children), and Third Sunday Lunch after (sit-down meal; BYO Mouth)! Let us enjoy the procession, the palms, the pageantry ... the surprise of the beginning of Holy Week. Even if you think you know the story ... what might it mean for you, anew?
